The Short Version

The Earth Optimization Prize138 is a public mechanism for discovering, stress-testing, and coordinating around the best available integrated plan for moving humanity off its current trajectory.

That trajectory is not neutral. The destructive economy139 is already 11.5% of GDP, reaches 48.8% by year 15 if current trends continue, reaches the failed-state danger zone in 8 years, and reaches parity with the productive economy in 15 years.

The benchmark upside of changing branch is similarly large. The Minimum Sustainable Trajectory (1% Treaty)140 adds $14.7M in lifetime income and 6.55 years of healthy life by year 15. The Wishonian Optimal Governance Trajectory adds $51.9M and 15.7 years.

What We Are Asking You To Do

Host the first 90-day pilot.

That means:

  1. publish the rules,
  2. convene the panel,
  3. fund red-team bounties,
  4. launch the first public scoreboard,
  5. admit the first serious submissions and public commitments.

It does not mean:

  1. endorsing Earth Optimization Protocol v1 as final truth,
  2. becoming the root of trust,
  3. controlling all future hosts or implementations,
  4. funding the entire downstream campaign.

Why This Is A Good Institutional Role

  1. It is a high-leverage epistemic intervention. You are hosting the process that finds and stress-tests better plans.
  2. It is a bounded public-good program. The outputs are concrete: rules, panel, bounty pool, scoreboard, submissions.
  3. It is reputationally safer than endorsing an ideology. The institution sponsors an open contest with adversarial review.
  4. It creates visible public infrastructure other institutions can later join.

Why This Is Not A Blank-Sheet Bet

Large parts of the software base already exist:

  1. Optimitron is live.
  2. Optimitron repository is public.
  3. The evidence engine, Wishocracy141, policy/budget generators, identity/referral plumbing, and treasury packages are materially implemented.
  4. The codebase includes roughly 2,900+ tests across the workspace.

The pilot is therefore an attempt to host and legitimize a public coordination layer on top of already substantial implementation work.

What Success Looks Like In 90 Days

By day 90, success means:

  1. a public challenge page exists,
  2. a named review panel exists,
  3. a public adversarial-review bounty pool exists,
  4. a live scoreboard exists,
  5. the first credible submissions and critiques are public.

That is enough to turn the project from an interesting paper stack into live public infrastructure.

The Core Governance Principle

One institution may initiate the network. No institution should be able to stop it.

The right host is credible enough to launch the process and disciplined enough not to capture it.
